Dear Reader,
Welcome to the December edition of Net Zero Trend’s Monthly Newsletter on China.
This month, China completed its first full-scale pure-hydrogen leak jet-fire test (10 MPa, 12,000 m³), generating critical empirical data for pipeline standard development. In Panzhihua, China launched its first civilian liquid hydrogen refueling station (0.5 TPD) for heavy-duty trucks. In Hami, 500 units of 49-ton hydrogen fuel cell trucks, powered by Bosch 300 kW engines, were delivered for coal logistics operations.
In November 2025, China released its national standard GB/T 40032.2-2025 for battery swapping in electric commercial vehicles, which requires each heavy-duty truck battery swap be completed within six minutes. That month, China’s heavy-duty electric truck sales reached 28,000 units, with a market penetration rate of 36.45%.
In the first episode of China’s CCTV industrial documentary, UtmoLight and the world’s first GW-scale perovskite PV production line were featured. On New Year’s Day 2026, Wuxi, a UNESCO-listed “City of Music,” will open its Grand Symphony Hall, roofed with more than 12,000 perovskite PV tiles (1.24 MW, 1.2 GWh), blending solar energy with architectural elegance.
In the 2025 Forbes China “Top 50 Innovative Companies,” five firms were listed in the new-energy category: China Fusion Energy, Wuxi LEAD, CATL, Sungrow, and Canadian Solar. The latter four exemplify China’s integrated value chain: Wuxi LEAD provides intelligent manufacturing equipment that enables GW-scale battery and PV production, while CATL batteries help Sungrow capture the world’s 2nd-largest ESS shipment share (14%), just behind Tesla (15%). Meanwhile, Wuxi-based Guoxia, an AI-driven energy storage solutions provider, launched its HKEX IPO with a market capitalization of around USD 2.2 billion.
China is at the center of the global energy transition. Its policies and projects are shaping markets and influencing the future. Our mission is to connect policymakers, investors, and innovators with the trends driving China’s climate and energy landscape.
Thank you, and let’s track China’s path to net zero together.
Until next month,
