On April 23, China’s central authorities issued the Comprehensive Evaluation and Assessment Measures for Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality. The document establishes a “5+9” indicator system to assess the carbon performance of all provincial governments, along with a strict “one-vote veto” mechanism to ensure enforcement.
NEA released its Q1 2026 statistics signaling hydrogen scale up. On April 14, CSA Group and CCIC celebrated their 40-year partnership. Safety remains the top priority in China’s second phase city-cluster hydrogen demonstration program (2026–2030); by the April 15 deadline, 15 city clusters submitted proposals, with up to five to be selected.
On April 4, China’s MW-class hydrogen aero-engine completed its first flight, advancing zero-carbon aviation from concept to a validated prototype. Meanwhile, Wuxi launched a new completely knocked down (CKD)-dedicated vehicle export route to India; the CKD model also has strong potential in adjacent sectors such as BESS equipment exports.
On April 19, China launched the 100,000-household hydrogen-blended gas project in Weifang, Shandong. With a blending ratio of 0–10%, hydrogen-enriched natural gas is transported through existing pipelines and used in appliances without modification.
In Wuxi, the industrial ecosystem is rapidly advancing embodied AI to power future industries. In April, a locally developed test satellite carrying a full set of paper-thin, flexible solar cells for satellite internet applications was also launched into orbit.
On the tech front, Wuxi NES Materials is set to commission a 100-ton-per-year MOF production line; Wuxi Koloh has developed a complete LH2 value chain capability, with ongoing R&D toward 30 TPD; and Jiangnan University achieved a record fermentation yield of 130 g/L for bio-based 1,5-PDA, a breakthrough in synthetic biology.
